Alaskan Fishing

This summer I’ve had the fortunate opportunity to catch some fish in the Kasilof river using a dipnet. My parents taught my siblings and I how to dipnet at a young age. After catching the fish my dad removed all the guts and insides. I froze some fish whole, cut some into fillets and stakes, and scrapped the meat off the bones to make salmon meat balls and salmon patties.

Easy salmon bake: cut the belly of the salmon and remove the insides. Place sliced onions, sliced tomatoes, sliced lemon into the belly. I like to season the inside with seasoning salt and pepper. Spray foil down with non-stick spray (i.e. oil). Wrap the fish in the foil and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 30 – 45 minutes. Check the fish flesh for a cooked pink color. Enjoy! – This is also a great meal to make over a camp fire or in a covered grill.

This year it will be my first year attempting to make salmon patties! I will share pictures when it has been completed. Fish on!
